COCKPIT COAMING RADIUS ASSEMBLED
FOREMAST REPAIRS 1
The foremast was the only spar from the original boat that could be salvaged. Here you can see new Douglas fir being scarfed in to fill old bad repairs and rot.
FOREMAST REPAIRS 2
The foremast repairs complete and faired, note the new main mast beside the foremast.
FOREMAST REPAIRS TOP
The top of the foremast had to be rebuilt because there was a design flaw in the fitting at the top of the foremast causing the forestay and triadic to work at opposite angles and work the fitting fore and aft constantly. The new foremast fitting solves this problem by lining up the loads in a singles plane.
SPARS
From left to right are the old main mast, new main mast, new main boom and repaired foremast with new masthead fitting installed.
CAPRAIL 1
The mahogany caprail starts to go on.
CAPRAIL 2
More of the caprail going on.
HELM REPAIR
The original helm needed a new spoke and refinishing.
SALON SEATS
The port and starboard salon seats house the fuel tanks.
STERN SECTION
The stern section is cut out to accept the boomkin.
FINAL PAINT
The first topcoat goes on, rolled and tipped with a brush.
TRANSOM NEW WOOD
New mahogany is glued and screwed to the transom structure.
TRANSOM
Faired and varnished the new transom looks great.
STBD PAINTED
The boat is painted with the best guess for the bootstripe and ready for the hydraulic trailer for transportation to the yard.
