STRIPPING FIBERGLASS
Once settled in a shed in Bristol, RI work began
to remove the fiberglass that had been put on 15
or so years before to try to extend the life of
TRUE LOVE.
12-27
SCROLL PORT FORWARD
Little evidence was left of the once elegant scroll
and cove stripe. This plank from port forward was
the only part left for us to restore the original
elegance on the new planking.
12-27
CHAINPLATE AREA
As we removed planks we started to see the problems
in more detail. Here you can see 3 sets of frames,
all rotten, no one bothered to remove the old rot
after sistering with new wood.
12-27
KEEL
The worst rot was in the area of the notches the
frames are set into in the keel.

FOREDECK BULWARKS
Although the shelf and clamp were kept there were
problems with the deck which had been glassed over
years ago and rotten badly.
12-31
PLANK REMOVAL
Exterior, temporary stringers were put on to stabilize
the shape as we removed planking.
BROKEN
COCKPIT SUPPORT
More was uncovered to show us how bad the condition
was.
ON
THE WAY TO THE SHED
TRUE LOVE was loaded onto a hydraulic trailer at
New England Boatworks to transport her to the work
shed in Bristol, RI.
EXTERIOR
SUPPORTS
The exterior supports hold her together while
planks and frames are removed and replaced.
