INTERNAL SUPPORTS TO SIDEDECKS
Supports are put in so the crew can still use the sidedecks.
STEM SCARF
In addition to the top section of the stem that had to be replaced there was a smaller scarf just above the ballast.
LAMINATING STEM
The top section of the stem gets replaced with laminated oak.
STEM INSTALLATION
The new section of the stem gets installed.
FIBERGLASS KEEL TUBE
The old holed where the keel bolts pass through the oak keel are drilled out to fresh wood and fiberglass tubes are put in to secure the area.
INTERIOR
A busy day as the crew works on keel bolts, floors and frames.
STARBOARD HULL FRAMES
New oak laminated frames are installed.
INTERIOR FROM DECK
The boat was gutted to allow access to everything.
NEW IRON FLOOR
The 1st of the 23 new iron floors is on site for fitting, final welding, epoxy coating and installation.
STEM IN PLACE
The new section of the stem after installation.
SLIDING IN FRAME
The oak frames are slid in from deck level, glued with 3M 5200 and brass riveted together.
FRAME INTO NOTCH
The bottom of the new frames are slid into notches in the keel and fastened with bronze screws.
REMOVING THE TIRED WESTERBEKE
The Westerbeke 50 is removed, we have chosen to install a new Caterpiller 3054B 86hp power plant.
