Only the foremast and boomkin were able to be saved
although the foremast required lots of work.

The shape of the boat takes shape after the frames
and deck beams were cut to size.

New iron floors installed.
ENGINE
MOCK-UP IN PLACE
A mock-up of the new diesel was used to position
the engine beds.

MAIN MAST
It was determined the original Douglas Fir main
mast was too far gone to repair. A new Douglas Fir
mast was purchased in Oregon, turned round and shipped
to Bristol. We then tapered the spar and fitted
the new mast bands, winches, sail track and hardware.

DECKHOUSE
STARTED
The original deckhouse was racked and rotten around
the hatched, ports and deck. A new deckhouse was
also necessary.

The installation of the sole bearers made it much
easier to work below.
DECK
MARGIN BOARDS
The decks will be 2 layers of 5/8" Okume marine
plywood. The margin boards are cut so the seams
will not overlap.

MOCK-UP
A disk to represent the propeller is fixed to help
locate the pilot hole for the stern tube.
WATERTIGHT
BULKHEAD FORWARD
A watertight bulkhead was installed forward according
to Coast Guard regulations.

MAST PARTNERS
The structure to support the loads from the main
mast are new and installed following the original
drawings from Alden.
